1991 Mitsubishi Delica
This little 1991 Mitsubishi Delica had so much character. The Delica is a flying bread box on the road that honestly tops out at about 70mph but puts a smile on your face during the whole experience. From the seating positing over the front axle to the classic 4wd livery, these things are a joy to drive and catch eyes from the gas station to the backwoods. These vans are iconic in not only their looks but also their 4wd capabilities. Unlike most jdm 4wd vans that are full time 4wd or have a push button 4wd system, the Delica has a true transfer case with a great low range.
The Dirt Tourist received this van in very OK shape. The paint hadn’t been touched by soap in seemingly years, there were many wiring repairs needed and plastics to be brought back to life. Aside from cosmetic makeover touches, this van had some much needed components serviced and added to it. The timing belt was recently replaced and the turbo was replaced but to make sure this little 4d56 stays on the road for the long haul, a slew of work was done.
Installed an egt pyrometer pre-turbo to keep an eye on temps over steep grades.
Relocated the boost gauge to achieve accurate boost readings and improve driver visibility/experience.
Repaired the tachometer.
Replaced the AC compressor and got the factory AC system to come back to life
Replaced rear suspension.
Repaired 4wd tcase wiring.
Replaced the sunroof motor and glass.
Added a rhino rack platform rack and FSR awning.
Repaired factory upholstery on the passenger seat.
Oil change
Injector pump tuning
